The area is cleaned and the leak is repaired by welding or replacing the damaged part. A pressure test is then performed to ensure there are no leaks, and the Freon is refilled and the unit is switched on to ensure proper operation.
- Disconnect the power to the unit to ensure safety.
- Locate the leak in the outdoor unit using a leak detector.
- Repair the leak by welding or replace the damaged part (pipes, fittings, or external evaporator).
- Evacuate air and moisture from the pipes using a vacuum pump.
- Recharge the Freon and test the unit to ensure there are no leaks and that the air conditioner is working efficiently.
